FAQs
Questions people actually ask
If yours isn't here, call us. We'd rather answer it than have you guess.
Who can rent equipment?
Anyone 18 or older, a U.S. resident, able to enter a contract, and capable of operating our equipment safely. Some equipment requires operator training — that's noted on the equipment page. We present valid government photo ID at pickup, and we reserve the right to decline a rental to anyone we don't believe can operate the machine safely.
Do I need insurance to rent equipment?
No. Every rental here can be secured with a refundable damage deposit - you do not need to produce an insurance policy to rent from us. On the Bobcat E26 excavator we also accept a current Certificate of Insurance in place of the deposit, if you or your business already carry cover and would rather use it. You are still responsible for damage to the equipment while it is in your care either way, so it is worth checking whether your homeowner's or business policy already covers rented equipment.
Do you deliver? Where to?
Yes. We serve the southcentral and southwest regions of Wisconsin, with a standard delivery area of 30 miles from the rental yard. Addresses within 10 miles get our in-town rate; further out a distance rate applies. Delivery is priced each way, so a delivered rental carries a charge for drop-off and one for collection. Rates and an address checker are on our service area page. Customer pickup in Dodgeville is available by request and avoids the charge entirely.
What do I need to rent?
A valid government photo ID, and a way to cover the damage deposit - in practice a driver's licence and a credit card. You'll also sign the Equipment Rental Agreement and, for most machines, a Safety, Operation & Maintenance Agreement at or before pickup. For the excavator you can substitute a current Certificate of Insurance for the deposit if you prefer.
How does your pricing work? What is a "weekend"?
Our tiers are blocks of run time on the machine's meter, not calendar time. Daily is 8 hours, weekend is 20 hours, weekly is 40 hours. So a weekend rate covers a Friday-to-Monday job as long as you don't put more than 20 hours on the machine - and if you only need it for a couple of hours on the Saturday, you're still inside a daily. It means you're paying for how much you used it rather than how long it sat in your yard.
What if I want to change my rental dates?
We'll accommodate changes based on availability. Return the equipment early and you're charged for the days you actually had it; extend it and the charges adjust to the new duration. Extensions need approval in advance, since the machine may already be promised to someone else.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancel more than 24 hours before your rental starts and there's no fee — your deposit is credited toward a future rental. Within 24 hours, a charge equal to one day's rental rate applies, which can also be credited if you rebook within three months. No-shows are treated the same way.
What if the equipment breaks during my rental?
Stop using it and call us at (414) 436-9158. If the fault is ours, we'll provide replacement equipment from our fleet when one is available and waive charges for the downtime. Never keep operating a machine that has become unsafe.
What if I can't operate the equipment?
Then don't. We offer operator training, and we offer operator services — we bring the machine and run it ourselves. There's no prize for figuring out a mini excavator on your own property at the cost of your fence.
